Club #53 is affiliated with Royal Family KIDS Camp #271 and we continue to build upon the relationships started at camp between our young royal campers and our wonderful volunteers, so the magic from camp can continue throughout the school year.
Each Royal Family KID who attends our Royal Family KIDS Club is matched with a caring adult mentor. The mentors meet one-on-one with the kids at some time during the month and then all the mentors and kids also attend our monthly club session at a community center with other Royal Family KIDS adult and teen volunteers.
Our four-hour club meeting begins with gathering time, board games, brown bag breakfast, and chit-chat while we wait for everyone to arrive. Then we move into our worship time. We also delve into the Royal Family Kids Curriculum.
This year’s theme is “Find Your Treasure” and we are trying to help the kids identify some of the character strengths that God has given them. We make craft projects, play games/sports, do some service projects, eat lunch, and HAVE FUN!
We also have some special outings throughout the school year. We went to a farm and rode in a hay wagon, picked pumpkins, and petted goats after our October club meeting. Some of the mentors and kids went out to the movies after our November meeting. We have gone bowling, roller-skating, and to the zoo after other club meetings, and we have developed the tradition of attending a Lake County Captains baseball game in May, as our final club meeting of the school year.
Throughout the year, we celebrate birthdays and recognize special achievements. This is our 5th year of being a Royal Family KIDS Club and we try to partner with caregivers to support our kids so good things can happen in their lives at home. We have sent our kids home from the November club meeting with bags full of Thanksgiving dinner for the families the past two years (Many of our children would not have had turkey on Thanksgiving, otherwise).
Our host church adopted our Royal Family KIDS for their Angel Tree mission and provided the kids with Christmas presents (and the families with bags of food) for the last two years. (Many of our kids would not have had presents or much to eat, otherwise). We are looking forward to making Christmas cookies and singing carols with our Royal Family Kids at our December Club meeting.
Our club tries to follow the Royal Family KIDS mottos of “Treating People Royally” and “Making Moments Matter”. We hope our Royal Family KIDS realize how special they are and that God has a good plan for their lives.
We would love to have you join us at Royal Family KIDS Club 53 if you feel like making a difference in the life of a child who has come from a hard place. (Volunteers must go through training and a background check, but we would love to have you join us). If you are unable to volunteer at this time, but would like to help, please consider making a tax deductible donation or putting us on your prayer list.
